Team DBF At City To Surf 2013

11 Aug 2013

A team of 16 runners joined in the fun at the starting line to represent the Deb Bailey Foundation at the 2013 Sun Herald City 2 Surf. Wearing bright yellow t-shirts with our supporters logos on the back, and the Deb Bailey Foundation logo on the front, our team took to the 14 km route with our high spirits and fancy running shoes. Running as a pack for the first few kilometres was fun, then the runners ran, and well, the rest rest of us just chatted away while taking the route through the city centre, through the Eatern suburbs, Rushcutters Bay, Double Bay, Rose Bay and Dover Heights.

So many great stories were shared along the way, and although some of us were struggling by ‘Heartbreak Hill’ (which is only the halfway mark!), we powered up the 2 km hill, before limping down the final hill to make the finish line at Bondi. As always, there were so many amazing costumes, charities and friendly amateur bands performing along the roadside, and for the Deb Bailey supporters and athletes who still had their legs, there was also some great free food and drinks at the Keystone Hospitality tent.

The wining time was by UK champion Ben Moreau, in a time of 41 minutes and 47 seconds. We can’t quite remember the best time i the DBF team, but I know it was a fair way off that! The next City 2 Surf is on Sunday August 10th, 2014. Our team for the Deb Bailey Foundation for Motor Neurone Disease will be walking, running, celebrating and sharing more great times. So please get in contact with Robyn by emailing Robyn@debbailey.org to find out more. When you register please remember to put ‘The Deb Bailey Foundation’ as the charity that you want to donate your entry-fee to.
